The Southern Arizona Affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure is proud to host the 13th Annual Race for the Cure at Reid Park on Sunday, April 10th starting at 8:00am. You are invited to join in the largest participatory event in Southern Arizona! With your help, vital breast health resources can be provided to members of our community. On Saturday, April 11th, the Kiwanis Club of Tucson is presenting an educational bike tour for kids, ages 3-6 from 9:00am - noon. This bicycle event for pre-schoolers will be held on the University of Arizona campus, and will focus on helmets, bicycle maintenance, safety in the desert, bicycle handling, and finish with a bike parade. Bicycles, training wheels, and tricycles are welcome. Cost is $5 and includes a t-shirt, water bottle and other fun stuff. Presented by the Kiwanis Club of Tucson – Sunshine and sponsored by the City of Tucson.
The Old Pueblo Grand Prix is a premier cycling event in the heart of downtown Tucson that is FREE to spectators. On Sunday, April 17th, come and celebrate cycling at its finest from 12:30pm - 5:00 pm. With $20,000 in cash prizes, the Old Pueblo Grand Prix will attract top professional and amateur athletes from around the country. It’s a perfect day to bring your friends and family to downtown and experience high speed pro bike racing right here in Tucson. Races start at 12:30 PM when amateur racers take to the .6 mile course. Make sure to bring your children for the kids race at 3:25 PM and grab a bite to eat at one of the 9 restaurants located on the race course. Following the Pro Womens race is the Pro Mens race at 5:00 PM that will finish as the sun is setting and reach speeds of over 30 mph. Make a day of it, bring your family, and tell your friends. On Saturday, April 16th, celebrate springtime by biking the Tucson Mountains. Open to all ages and abilities, the Tour offers 73 and 27-mile distances, plus Fun Rides of 4 & 1/4 mile events. The 73-mile event is a perimeter ride around – not over – the beautiful Tucson Mountains. All routes begin at Marana Town Hall in Marana, AZ and are generally flat, perfect for beginning riders! On Saturday, September 16th, ride your bike to Reid Park Zoo and show your helmet to get FREE admission and FREE valet parking inside the zoo. The Greater Arizona Bicycling Association (GABA) will have rides starting from various locations around Tucson, in varying distances and speeds. You decide which level and distance you want to pedal, and start with the group that most closely matches your cycling preference. All rides will converge at the zoo between 9 AM and 12 PM. Upon arrival at the zoo, stop at the GABA table with your helmet which will be set up inside of the entrance to get your ice cream cone/cup voucher (limited to the first 300 cyclists). Tucson Clean and Beautiful is hosting its first annual Spring Greening event, with multiple opportunities for the community to learn about and participate in Tucson Clean & Beautiful environmental efforts including volunteer litter cleanup and buffelgrass removal; tree maintenance demonstrations; recycling education and collection of cell phones, printer cartridges, aluminum cans and # 1 plastic bottles. The event is free, and those who come can enter raffles to win a multitude of gift certificates to different local Tucson businesses.

Dust off your favorite recipe book and get rolling! There will be four judged categories (enter one or enter them all!), fantastic prizes, and more delicious home-made pie than you have ever seen. Each pie you enter into the contest is an opportunity to support your favorite Tucson non-profit organization, who will receive all of the event proceeds if you win the contest! On April 2nd, TFS will be installing Solar Panels on top of the Second St. School in historic Sam Hughes. Not only will the kids get a clean energy education, but parents and college students are going to lend a hand with the installation. The 5th annual Solar Rock, an outdoor, solar-powered concert will take place on Sunday, March 27, at Armory Park from 11am - 4pm. The concert is 100% powered by solar panels and is open to the public. Tucson citizens concerned about the state of the environment can attend and learn more about the power of the sun from educational displays, renowned scientists and vendors. Cyclovia aims to get people out of their cars and enjoying the streets by foot or bike for one day. This year it coincides with the Solar Rock on March 27th from 10:00 am to 3:00 pm. The term Cyclovia refers to the closing of streets to cars to facilitate cycling, walking and having fun in the street! It is time to toss a football with friends in the street and participate in this local event!
Come visit TFS at this year's GreenFest, presented by Bookmans and the Saguaro Girl Scouts of Southern Arizona at the Tucson Village Farm on April 2nd from 10 am - 2:00 pm. The National Alliance on Mental Illness Walk is taking place on April 2nd, starting at Tucson Electric Park. All proceeds help to support and fund research on mental illnesses. Check-in time for the walk is at 7:30 am, with the walk starting at 9:00 am. TFS will join Gabrielle Giffords' Cactus Roots Connectors team to raise money and awareness for the National Alliance on Mental Illness Southern Arizona. Gabby served as the chair for NAMISA’s walk last year, and has always been a strong supporter of their work to advocate for world-class treatment for people with mental illness. Join TFS in celebrating our youth and our community. The 3rd annual Pennington Street Block Party on Saturday, April 9 from 3:00-7:00 p.m.
The Block Party is a family-friendly event in the heart of Downtown Tucson that celebrates what young people are doing to make our community a better place. Fun for all ages: musical performances and teaching demos, interactive booths, one-act plays, art installations and ‘moveable’ galleries, carnival games, and more!
The event showcases youth creativity, learning, and service, and will launch Southern Arizona’s celebration of Global Youth Service Days. This year’s Block Party coincides with the vibrant 2nd Saturdays Downtown event, so all of downtown Tucson will be alive throughout the evening and into the night.

The 17th Annual Earth Day Festival is happening on April 16th at Reid Park from 9:00 am until 2:00 pm. There will be a Parade, Solar Competition and Alternative Fuels Car Show as well as exhibits, music, performances and food vendors.
