Considering solar? Now is the time to have TFS out for a site visit and to learn more.

TEP's solar rate case hearing begins today, October 23, 2017, and the resulting decision will take months to be implemented. The new rates will not affect existing solar customers or new customers who apply for a new solar energy system before the effective date of the hearing decision, anticipated for February.

The hearing process:
Today's hearing is actually the beginning of TEP's Phase 2 rate case proceedings, and will collect public comment. Then evidentiary hearings begin tomorrow, and are set to run through November 2. After that, the process will take a couple of months, as there is time allotted for the parties' formal responses, the judge's recommended order and opinion, and finally a future ACC meeting scheduled for final decision.

The opportunity:
Customers interested in solar can lock in the current, more favorable rates for 20 years by applying to connect a new system before the new rates are implemented in February. The application is enough to grandfather customers into those more favorable rates, and gives customers up to 6 months after application to have the system installed and turned on.
