Technicians For Sustainability did terracing of a steep slope to retain and slow down water as well as basin work in both the front and back yards. The homeowners also did additional earthworks in their courtyards and stabilized the basin slopes with urbanite (broken up concrete and bricks from their backyard). They also removed their asphalt driveway and had us create basins where paving used to be that will be planted with trees to provide passive cooling to the west side of their house. Below are before and after shots of the front and back yards. The final photo is of a basin that the homeowners filled with urbanite to prevent erosion.
